“God Lives in Langlade County” by Lyle Jackson

“Where does God live?” asks the ever-searching child. “Is He right
here in the city, or in the timeless wild?”
“Where can I find Jesus?” asks the wayward man. “Show me where
to find Him. Help me if you can.”
I thought that I could find Him at worship Sunday morn.
I lost Him in the busy world, forgotten He was born.
Well son, daughter, sir and ma’am, I’ll tell you where he dwells.
Right here in Langlade County, where folks all know Him well.
I’ve heard Him whisper through the pines, when inner peace I seek.
He even sits beside me when I pray by Elton Creek.
Jesus walks the Wild Wolf River and calms the surging stream.
And God can bring tranquility and quiet to your dreams.
You’ll feel the Holy Spirit when fishing on White Lake.
When drinking in the beauty created for your sake.
So look again for Jesus in the tiny church of ‘Hope.’ Where neighbors
of the northland reach out to help you cope.
Hear the birds in anthem chorus and the singing of the saw;
the chorus of the coyote…and hold them all in awe.
For God is in the country, the city and the glen.
If you look for God you’ll find Him in the places
where you’ve been. Amen.
